DIG Landscape Part of Charleston Celebrity Backyard Challenge

Posted on by

Charleston is home to some high-profile residents and who wouldn’t want a chance to see the homes and gardens of these celebrities? Well, you can get an idea of the design of one of their backyards as part of a Mystery Celebrity Backyard Challenge during this weekend’s Custom Home + Remodel Show.

With help from other local companies, DIG Landscape will coordinate the construction of the entire Mystery Celebrity Backyard Challenge.

The five celebrities inspiring the contest are authors Pat Conroy and Dorothea Benton Frank along with actor Bill Murray, musician Darius Rucker and reality TV star Thomas Ravenel.

Other highlights of the 2014 Custom Home + Remodel Show are:

  • More than 50 local, state and federal emergency agencies and organizations have been invited to participate in the Hurricane and Disaster Expo as way to raise awareness and urge the public to have a disaster plan. The first 500 families attending the expo will receive a free hurricane kit.
  • Grilling demonstrations with Jack Waiboer of Carolina Pit Masters. Waiboer made his national TV debut on Destination America channel’s “BBQ Pitmasters” and he will be featured in a new reality show, “American Grilled!” on The Travel Channel.
  • Tour the Architects’ Gallery of Custom Homes, a special exhibit showcasing Charleston’s top architects and their designs. Get inspired by the thousands of photographs of the architects’ work.

After you make your guess in the Mystery Celebrity Backyard Challenge, be sure to stop by the DIG Landscape booth. We’d love to talk about how to transform your backyard space.

The Custom Home + Remodel Show is 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9; and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 10 at The Citadel’s Johnson Hagood Stadium. Admission is free on Friday and $7 (ages 13 and up) on Saturday and Sunday.
